Hand-Carved Libyan Desert Glass Egyptian Scarab with Ankh Engraving – 150 Carats

This unique Libyan Desert Glass Egyptian Scarab is hand-carved from rare Desert Glass formed by an ancient asteroid impact, approximately 29 million years ago. The scarab features an engraving of the Ankh, the Egyptian symbol for the "key of life," on its backside, adding to its rich cultural and spiritual significance.

Libyan Desert Glass, known as Great Sand Sea Glass, was initially a mystery due to its unique formation. The intense heat from a cosmic impact along the Libya-Egypt border melted desert sands, creating this extraordinary material embedded with meteorite particles. Discovered by geographer Patrick Clayton, Libyan Desert Glass has been admired for its connection to both cosmic history and Egyptian culture. In ancient Egypt, scarabs were cherished for their symbolism of good fortune, hope, restoration of life, transformation, growth, rebirth, and protection.

Inspired by the Winged Scarab Pendant of Tutankhamun, which features a scarab crafted from similar desert glass, this piece offers a tangible link to both ancient and celestial origins.
